Edward Garrod joined Elementa Consulting, London as Head of Integrated Design + Sustainability inMarch of 2014. Having originally trained in architecture and urbanism at Cambridge University, hisspecialism in environmental design and simulation led him into a career within high-performancegreen engineering. Over the past decade he has worked with renowned architects on projects at allscales in over twenty countries applying his skills as am environmental design analyst andsustainability consultant.

His project credits include Winspear Opera House in Dallas, the zero carbon Masdar Institute in AbuDhabi,  Jameson Tower in Vancouver, Musée de la Romanitée in Narbonne, France, SpaceportAmerica in New Mexico, and sustainable masterplans from China to Argentina, Denmark to SaudiArabia.

In 2005 he co-founded PHA Consult - a firm whose unique collaborative approach to integrateddesign eventually led to acquisition by world renowned architects Foster + Partners in 2011. Therehe developed a sustainable design framework based upon One Planet Living principles thatcontinues to be used to develop 'sustainability manifestos' for projects, to engage with staff and toco-ordinate CSER initiatives.

He has served as a member of the UK Green Building Council’s “Rapid Response Team” and is now amember of their Leaders’ Network. In 2013 he was a Scalability Panel Judge for the Urban Designsection of the international Katerva Awards.

Since joining Elementa Edward has led the masterplan sustainability strategy for a Research +Development complex at Education City in  Doha, Qatar, also taking responsibility for theenvironmental design and low-energy MEP systems strategy for a 45,000 sqm research laboratorythat is targeting LEED Gold and will form the heart of this new research community.
