The next generation hotel room graced the forecourt of the Business Design Centre at the Sleep event after a hugely popular competition to find a flexible design concept.
The winner - OHØYstudio
The panel of judges, which included directors from Snoozebox, Tangerine and Sleep, were overwhelmed by the quality of submissions.
A team of three international architects from OHØYstudio in Norway, Eva Taucar, Klaus Madseen and Vincenzo Grosso, produced the winning entry.
“I was impressed with all of the entries, but there had to be a winner” said Lorcán Ó Murchú, CEO of Snoozebox. “Well done Eva, Klaus and Vincenzo at OHØYstudio – simple, thoughtful and flexible, I look forward to bringing the concept to life.”
The judges were so impressed by a number of the submissions that three entries were also selected as runners-up:
James Bishop, Ben Rumer and Lucia Bergamo of MR Partnership in London; Jakub Jan Surówka, Michał Matejczyk, Beata Mazur and Iza Tolko of the Kracow-based SUMA Architektów, and Onginev T. Jiminez from the Philippines.
Snoozebox is a unique and award-winning portable hotel providing premium ‘on-site’ accommodation at major events and festivals around the world. Snoozebox has also been named a Bronze winner in the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA)’s 2015 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA).
Offering flexible configurations and room availability, a Snoozebox 100 bedroom hotel can be fully operational and ready to welcome guests in 24 hours. It provides comfortable and secure accommodation which can operate independently of mains services such as power, water and waste drainage.
The new Snoozebox rooms are typically fitted out to include an en suite wet room, bed options for up to four people, air conditioning, heating, a personal safe, secure key lock access, wifi, and TV.
