Sleep joined forces with ReardonSmith Architects in 2012 to re-introduce a student award as part of the European Hotel Design Awards 2012. The challenge set for students was intended to be thought-provoking, inspiring and perhaps, one close to their hearts - the design of hotel staff areas.
The competition was launched once again for 2013 with this year’s brief was to create a master-plan for a new luxury hotel and residential marina development on the Southern Adriatic coast.
The competition was open to undergraduates studying a full-time architecture or interior design course at a college in Europe.
The winner of the Sleep ReardonSmith Student Award 2013 was James Young of Canterbury School of Architecture and was announced European Hotel Design Awards on Tuesday 19 November.
The winner received...
- Press coverage in Europe’s leading hotel and design publications
- Their concept displayed at the Sleep Event
- A trip to London to attend the European Hotel Design Awards dinner to receive the award in front of 800 influential industry figures, with travel and overnight accommodation provided
